About Recommended Service Intervals

Have you ever had been told your vehicle needs a flush or fluid change and wondered “who says” or “why now?” This page explains the different service plans and why routine flushes and fluid changes are recommended when they are.

Lifetime Protection Plan

Think of this plan as Health Insurance for your car. It follows the tried and true industry standard of changing all the fluids every 30,000 miles, (with the exception of engine oil and gasoline induction systems which are serviced sooner.)

The Lifetime Protection plan is designed for those who want to avoid the cost of replacing their vehicle or paying for major repairs. It’s a proactive maintenance plan that uses the best quality synthetic lubricants available. Flush cleaners and additives are industrial strength, meaning you won’t find them at “Quick-Lube” style operations or Auto Parts Retailers.

In fact our suppliers are so confident this plan works that they will warranty each serviced component for as long as you own the vehicle! That’s right, drive as many miles as you want - if you maintain it, they will cover it! This alone is a testament to the effectiveness of preventative maintenance.

(To qualify for the warranty, vehicles must have first services performed before 75,000 miles)

Synthetic Plus Plan

This plan uses the same industry leading synthetic lubricants, additives and cleaners as the Lifetime Protection Plan, but takes advantage of the longevity of these fluids by extending the service intervals to 50,000 miles on all services (except engine oil.)

The Synthetic Plus program is designed for the daily driver that sees lots of highway miles and not as much heavy duty or around town use. With this option you won’t get the warranty of the Lifetime Protection Plan, but it will increase the useful life of your vehicles costly components.

Manufactures Service Recommendations

Manufactures service recommendation are another option to consider, but look closely and compare them to other services plans. Service intervals vary widely between manufactures, some are very good and others are bare bones minimum - designed to get you through the warranty period and not much else.

After a vehicle has been on the road awhile, wear trends start to show up. At this point it is wise to adjust the maintenance plan to help avoid these trends. Many major repairs can be avoided if a proactive approach to fluid services is performed and a few additional services are introduced where needed.

Monitored Service

Monitored service means that fluids and filters are checked during the routine Oil Change service. When a particular fluid starts to show signs of viscosity breakdown or contamination, then that fluid is serviced.

The downside to this method is, once the fluid reaches the point of being broken down or contaminated, damage to that component has likely already begun. Isn’t the point of “Preventative Maintenance” to “Prevent” damage? So why wait until the damage has already begun to maintain that component?

Which Service Plan is Right for You?

As always, your best option is to talk it over with us. Vehicles are all built and used for different purposes, and everyone’s needs for those vehicles are different as well. This is why we have the Vehicle Information Form which gives us this information so we can make recommendations that will best serve your situation.

We’ll take into account how much you drive, how long you want to keep the vehicle, and how expensive it will be to repair or replace the vehicle. In addition, we’ll ask how much you rely on the vehicle - does your job depend on your vehicle getting you to work? Do you use your vehicle for work? Do you have a backup vehicle if a breakdown were to occur?  ect…
